Research Interests
Dr. Nazzal seeks to understand the evolution of the electronic and optical properties of matter at the fundamental level for applications in optoelectronic devices. At the nanoscale, he uses theory and experiment to study the dependence of optoelectronic properties on size, shape, composition, surface dynamics, etc. Current research activities focuses at using theory and optical spectroscopy to study different semiconductor materials and structures (ZnO, SiP, GeSn) for LED and other optoelectronic applications in the UV-VIS-IR range. One of the current active computational research projects aims at understanding the electronic band structure of GeSn alloys of different Sn content for light applications in MIR-IR.
